Inspired by classic folk song collections, this booklet is a personal compilation of my own compositions from Painted Blue. This songbook will include all the songs from the album, featuring both lyrics and chords.
8 tracks all recorded on tape at my home in Nashville in October/November 2025. A hand spun alt folk album made right here in the living room. Recorded on a Tascam 388 tape machine and mixed by Nick Harley. Official release everywhere via Athens, Georgia based label Primordial Void.
This cassette tape is a collection of songs I wrote and recorded on various Tascam 4-track tape machines in my home in Nashville, TN. I treated these tapes like a journal, keeping nearly every take, unconcerned with perfection and instead striving for something instinctual. This sort of approach to the tape machine is my favorite way to write songs. A big thanks to Marcel of Primordial Void for bringing these songs off my dusty tape shelves and out in the light of the world.

Unique, one-of-a-kind handwritten lyrics written on the same notebook paper I used to write the songs.

Nick Harley is a Nashville-based indie folk rock artist. Originally from the Rust Belt of Indiana, Nick finds inspiration in the decomposition of a time gone by—seeing beauty in the wreckage and the not-so-careful. His music feels both familiar and distinctly his own, blending traditional folk elements with the raw edge of late garage rock revival. Acoustic guitars, unruly fuzz and a strong focus on melody and lyrics.
For many years, he was a hired gun for songstresses S.G. Goodman and Lilly Hiatt, but he has now embarked on his own musical path, carving out a sound inspired by his former bandmates and his roots in folk, bluegrass, and indie rock.
